Blue Acre Aquaponics offers education opportunities for K-12 participants.  Our facility showcases a technology-centric alternative to soil- based school gardens, and provides science-focused experiential learning opportunities for any level of student. Additionally, Blue Acre will be starting a high school internship program in the fall of 2021!

Blue Acre will also be scheduling education events for anyone to come a learn about aquaponics, so stay tuned.

Agri-Business Support

Blue Acre's mission is to also support other farm businesses in the region.  Blue Acre is building a model of production in the coalfield that other entrepreneurs can replicate.  Our staff, led by Jack Smith, has a unique understanding of how these systems work and can help even the back-yard farmer build a system to produce food year around.  Blue Acre will be scheduling classes soon, so stay tuned.

Additionally, Blue Acre is part of the Turnrow, Appalachian Farm Collective and is regional aggregation site for Turnrow market channels.  Blue Acre will serve as an aggregation and distribution site for area producers wanting to expand their market opportunities.  Blue Acre is happy help area producers onboard into the Turnrow network, contact Ty Sturgill.
